FAQ Section
Where can I find wallpaper in NYC?
Some stores do have samples of wallpaper you could take a look at in person for instance there are many unique design stores in the city like House of Hackney, Moooi, Flavor Paper and Farrow & Ball. However the reality is that stores in NYC do not carry a wide selection of papers and you can find more variety online on different websites and can order samples. Some websites you could consider include repositories like wallpaperstogo.com (it allows you to search by keyword), wayfair, etsy and many more. Many design stores online have their unique papers and the truth is that there is no single source of paper and can require a lot of digging around to find what interests you most. Better also to invest in a higher quality paper as some peel and stick paper from Amazon don't have warranties may not be a good investment.
Can I install wallpaper myself?
We typically wouldn't recommend someone who is new to wallpapering to try certain papers, for instance grass-cloth because it's a very delicate paper that can be easily damaged. However, we have seen certain clients that prefer to do it themselves and may have more handyperson experience. It is certainly doable with patience but if it is your first time and the paper is expensive, you most likely would be better off relying on a professional.
Do you need to prime the walls before applying wallpaper?
Some non-pasted papers can benefit from priming beneath to protect the surface in the long run, which can protect the wall from stripping paint to the paper back of drywall when removing. Some papers however don't need priming for instance strippable non-woven papers; the design of the paper helps it to be easily removed from the surface. It just depends on the type.
