We remove wallpaper throughout the NYC area, primarily in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Typically most papers can be removed with either steam or sprayed water and doesn't require the use of chemicals or special tools with teeth as these can leave walls unnecessarily marked up. We bring ladders and other equipment necessary to complete the job.
What is the typical process involved in removing wallpaper?
Typically, we start by soaking the paper to loosen it from the wall, and then piece by piece removing the paper, It is unfortunately not a quick process and it involves a certain level of patience. After the paper is removed, we will typically clean the wall of the glue with water as much as possible.
Then usually we are able to prime the wall with a good foundational primer for instance "Fresh Start", an acrylic primer or an oil based primer. Lastly, we will paint the wall in the original color like there was never wallpaper in the first place.
